Registries of Civil and Muslim Marriages’ Canning Rise Site relocated to The Esplanade from April 2025 during redevelopment phase

14 January 2025 – The Registry of Marriages (ROM) and Registry of Muslim Marriages (ROMM) will be temporarily relocating to an interim site at Esplanade Mall as the existing site at Canning Rise undergoes redevelopment from 2025 to 2028. The redeveloped building will better meet the needs of couples as a solemnisation venue and to prepare them for their marriage journey.

2. ROM and ROMM will cease operations at the current site at the end of Friday, 11 April 2025 and resume services at Level 3 of Esplanade Mall on Monday, 14 April 2025, taking over part of the space formerly occupied by library@esplanade. To facilitate the move, in-person appointments and solemnisations at the current site will not be available during the weekend of 12 to 13 April 2025. Solemnisations held at external venues, including video-linked solemnisations, will not be affected.

3. To ensure a seamless transition, all existing ROM/ROMM appointments and solemnisations scheduled from 14 April 2025 onwards will be automatically transferred to the Esplanade Mall interim site. Couples who have already made such bookings will be notified on the change.

4. ROM/ROMM moved to its current location at 7 Canning Rise in August 1983. For over four decades, its distinctive architecture featuring the iconic pitched roof has been a cherished venue for countless couples embarking on their marital journeys.

5. The redeveloped building is envisioned to be a choice venue for marrying couples to celebrate their unions. Key features include the re-creation of the pitched roof, larger and more modern solemnisation venues (such as a rooftop solemnisation space), green spaces within the building, as well as indoor and outdoor photo spots. Sustainability is also a key focus, with features such as energy-efficient building management systems and sustainable materials factored into the redeveloped building. More details of the new ROM/ROMM building will be shared at a later date.

6. During the transition period, couples are advised to check the Our Marriage Journey (OMJ) portal at https://www.marriage.gov.sg for the latest information. Members of the public may also call the ROM hotline at 6338 7808 and the ROMM hotline at 6337 0207 for queries regarding the shift to The Esplanade.
