Response to parliamentary question on amount received by participating IPCs and the charity sectors benefitted from CDC Vouchers Scheme Donation Campaign
7325. Ms Usha Chandradas: To ask the Minister for Culture, Community and Youth (a) what is the total value of CDC vouchers donated to charity since the scheme's inception; and (b) whether a breakdown can be provided of the donations by type of recipient charities including those charities serving social welfare, healthcare, disability support, art, sports and education initiatives.
1. The CDC Vouchers Donation initiative is part of the Community Development Council’s (CDC) efforts to build caring and inclusive communities. It was first announced in December 2022 as part of CDC Vouchers Scheme 2021 & 2022. The initiative provided Singaporean households the avenue to donate their unused CDC Vouchers to participating IPCs (Institutions of a Public Character). These participating IPCs support diverse causes such as animal welfare, arts & heritage, children & youth, the environment, migrant community, persons with disability, and more.
2. Across the first three tranches of the CDC Vouchers Scheme, close to $2 million was donated by Singaporean households to more than 200 IPCs. The IPCs that received the most donations were from the following causes: Animal Welfare, Children/ Families/ Youth, Healthcare, and Persons with Disabilities.
3. These contributions will make a tangible and positive difference to the various causes and beneficiaries.
