Salary range of university graduate asatizah working in Singapore

Response to parliamentary question on the salaries of asatizah who are university graduates and currently working in Singapore

Written PQ 3023. Mr Abdul Samad: To ask the Minister for Social and Family Development and Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs how many asatizahs who are university graduates and currently working in Singapore earn (i) less than $2,000 monthly (ii) between $2,001 to $3,000 monthly (iii) between $3,001 to $4,000 monthly and (iv) from $4,001 and above respectively.

  1. The table below shows the proportion of asatizah who are university graduates and currently working at the mosques and madrasahs1  and their earnings, based on data collected by Muis as at 1 July 2022:

Salary Range  Percentage of university graduate asatizah working at the mosques and madrasahs at the salary range
*Percentages may not total 100 due to rounding
     (i) less than $2,000 monthly  2%
     (ii) between $2,001 to $3,000 monthly   62%
     (iii) between $3,001 to $4,000 monthly   30%
(iv) from $4,001 and above  7%

  2. As part of the Asatizah Workforce Development Plan (AWDP), Muis has been working with madrasahs, mosques and ILHAM to implement a Common Salary Guideline (CSG) that ensures asatizah are fairly compensated based on the competencies and values that they bring to their jobs. Muis is implementing the CSG at the mosques and madrasahs in phases from this year.
  3. Muis will also encourage the Islamic Education Centres and Providers (IECPs) and other relevant sectors to align their compensation for asatizah with the CSG framework. We should give employers time to adjust to the framework.

1 This includes asatizah working at the Islamic Learning Hub and Management Office (ILHAM).
