Our story

Mission
To deepen thinking and creativity in cultural institutions and build professional capabilities in the administration of culture in Singapore

The Culture Academy (CA) of the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY), plays a key role in championing the development of the next generation of Singapore’s cultural leaders.

CA's efforts are centered on four key areas: Leadership and Capability Development, Research and Scholarship, International Partnerships, and Corporate Policy and Data, all of which are integral to MCCY’s strategic priorities.

Leadership and Capability Development

The Leadership and Capability Development Programmes offered by CA seeks to enhance the participants’ understanding of and alignment with Whole-of-Government (WOG) and Whole-of-Nation (WON) priorities. The programmes also enable cultural leaders to hone their leadership skills and deep dive into cross-sector research so that they can grow professionally and build camaraderie and collaborations through fostering strong professional relations and inter-agency collaborations both within and outside the MCCY family.

Research and Scholarship

CA aims to drive new areas of research aligned with the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY)’s strategic priorities to establish a common research agenda in the cultural sector. This involves coordination of the research agenda across MCCY’s family of cultural institutions as well as collaboration with external research institutions. In addition, we undertake impactful cross-cutting research and evaluation through international benchmarking and the commissioning of research studies to address knowledge gaps and inform cultural policymaking in MCCY. We also promote capability development through the sharing of best practices that facilitate evidence-based approaches to research, and the conducting of joint futures research to inform strategic planning via the Cultural Policy Research Network (CPRN).

International Partnerships

The CA division forms partnerships with like-minded partners to collaborate, strengthen and enhance the culture sector’s and Singapore's regional and international standing in cultural leadership and scholarship.

Corporate Policy and Data

The Corporate Policy and Data Team provides essential internal support for the division, focusing on administrative, corporate, knowledge management, and branding initiatives. We centralize corporate returns and manage the division's digital platforms, while also providing extensive support for key cross-team projects. Our commitment to providing administrative and corporate support ensures that the division's internal functions are streamlined and optimized for maximum efficiency.

Vision
To be the centre of excellence for the development of culture professionals and administrators
