Response to parliamentary question on the land tenure for Masjid Al-Firdaus and Masjid Pusara Aman
PQ 7250. Mr Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim:To ask the Minister for Social and Family Development and Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs (a) what is MUIS’ long-term plan in terms of the location of Masjid Pusara Aman and Masjid Al-Firdaus which are currently under SLA’s Temporary Occupation Licence (TOL); and (b) whether there are plans to extend the TOL of these mosques as they not only serve the residents, migrant workers and uniformed personnel in the Chua Chu Kang, Tengah and surrounding farm areas, but also hold historical significance and provide services on Muslim burial and last rites for the community.
Majlis Ugama Islam Singapore (MUIS) regularly reviews the capacity of our mosques and works closely with national agencies to ensure sufficient prayer spaces are provided for the Muslim community. Masjid Al-Firdaus is on a Temporary Occupation Licence (TOL) issued by Singapore Land Authority (SLA) to MUIS, and Masjid Pusara Aman is on land allocated to the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE). MUIS will continue to work with the relevant agencies to extend their tenure and operations on site, subject to overall land use plans.
